PROJECT BRIEF
Design a desk piece for yourself, which would really help you in your purpose of being a designer.
Ambition
AIRPLANE MODE
This project is an academic exploration of balance as narrative using form, movement, and symbolism to translate philosophy into furniture. Through speculative design and functional storytelling, it examines how everyday objects can transcend utility and become reflections of duality, harmony, and transformation
Concept
Drawing from the yin-yang form, the desk symbolizes harmony between dualities: compactness/expansion, work/rest, digital/analog

The foldable sides transform the desk from a minimal surface to an expansive workspace, embodying adaptability in use.
The design positions the desk as a sculptural object, a daily reminder of balance and flow.

Experiment
FRAGILITY
The ideation process drew from a cajon drum set, where a person sits on or keeps it between his lap to how folding has historically been used in products for utility and adaptability, reimagining it as a way to create a desk that not only transforms physically but also helps the user focus while opening space for creativity to flow.

Prototyping
FRAGILITY
We prototyped with cardboard, plywood, and wood to explore structural forms, testing foldability, strength, and the yin-yang inspired transitions.

DIGITAL FABRICATION

FINAL
FRAGILITY
The lamp’s form draws from the interplay of rigidity and breakthrough. The layered, symmetrical panels echo the imposing order of Egyptian architecture — structures built to project power, tradition, and permanence. Yet through this rigidity emerges the central glowing core, cutting forward like a wave breaking through stone. This contrast embodies Rameses’s fragile ego, clinging to illusion, and Moses’s enduring hope, carving a path beyond it. The light’s gentle diffusion softens the severity of form, symbolizing how resilience and vision can dissolve false grandeur, revealing freedom at the heart of struggle
